Motorola starts rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo updates to the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus which was originally launched with Android 7.0 Nougat in March and April 2017 respectively, after a few months of testing. A member of Lenovo confirmed yesterday via Phone Arena that Motorola has rolled out the Moto G5 and G5 Plus Android 8.0 Oreo update, but only in a few regions.
The Android Oreo updates comes with bug fixes, stability improvements and a lot of amazing features like (Picture in Picture (PiP) mode, autofill APIs, new multitasking features, improved data saver, battery features, Bluetooth improvements, adaptive icons,more efficient notification controls, new power menu UI, and new Settings menu.)
As at now, the update is only available in Mexico for the Moto G5 while in India and Brazil for the Moto G5 Plus. According to the company the Android, 8.1 Oreo update will be available in other regions later in the future. Also, the deployment is not available for everyone in this selected regions yet because this is a staged deployment.
However, with the limit in Android 8.0 Oreo update release, it is likely Motorola is waiting for feedback and bug reports before rolling out the official update to other regions.
